Configure ESP Integration User

All steps in this section are performed in ServiceNow. Steps may vary slightly depending on your ServiceNow version.

  1. Type Users in the search bar at the top of the side panel menu.
  2. Click Organization > Users.
  3. Search for esp.integration.
  4. Click on the esp.integration user.

Add Roles

  1. In the Roles section, click Edit.
  2. Search for all esp_roles, including:
    • esp_integration_admin
    • esp_integration_dev
    • esp_integration
  3. Find the following roles, and add them to the esp.integration users:
    • knowledge_admin - Required for Knowledge Base access
    • itil - Required for incident/ticket access
    • rest_api_explorer - Required for API access
  4. Click Save.

The esp_roles handle the Barista integration. The knowledge_admin, itil, and rest_api_explorer roles are required if your tenant uses Knowledge Base and ticketing.

Set Password for ESP Integration Users

  1. Click Set Password on the esp.integration user record.
  2. Click Generate to create a new password or enter a secure password you created.
  3. Copy and save the password securely.
  4. Click Save Password.
caution

To avoid a connection failure after setting the password:

  • Uncheck the Password needs reset checkbox
  • Save the user record

Check

Before moving forward, confirm the following steps were completed successfully:

  • Update set committed successfully
  • ESP modules visible in navigator
  • esp.integration user includes all three Barista roles
  • Password generated and saved securely
  • Password needs reset is UNCHECKED
  • Access to the following data for the next step:
    • ServiceNow Instance URL: https://[instance].service-now.com
    • Username: esp.integration
    • Password configured for the ESP Integration
