High Availability and Scaling
Resolve Actions supports Remote Executor configurations across multiple servers and multiple instances on a single server. You can also use workflow logic to select primary and backup executors.
Horizontal Scaling
- Remote executors can be deployed on two or more servers for active/active high availability.
- The workflow engine selects the next Remote Executor in round-robin order. Each execution uses the next device in the rotation. If a device is unavailable, Actions skips it and selects the next available device.
For example, when two VMs are associated with the same Remote Executor instance:
- Actions alternates execution between the two VMs while both are available.
- If one VM becomes unavailable, Actions routes subsequent executions to the available VM.
note
Round-robin execution applies to devices associated with the same Remote Executor instance.
Vertical Scaling
- You can configure multiple Remote Executor instances on the same server.
- Navigate to Configuration > Integrations and Modules.
- In the Core Components bar, click the + at the top right.
- See Configuring the Setup for Configuration instructions. This configuration allows a single server to host multiple Remote Executor instances.
Configure Primary and Backup Executors in a Workflow
-Use a global variable to select the Remote Executor through workflow logic.
- For example, a workflow can use Executor A to access Network A and select Executor B as a backup when Executor A is unavailable.
